Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s Devil OTT release date out

Devil – Nandamuri Kalyan Ram’s latest set for OTT premiere within two weeks of theatrical release

Devil, directed by Naveen Medaram, wasn’t in the news for the right reasons prior to release. Owing to a public spat between the producer and the director and fearing unwanted controversies, the makers refused to give the periodic spy thriller a major push at the box office and didn’t promote it well. Kalyan Ram, Samyuktha Menon, Malvika Nair played crucial roles in the film.

Adding to their list of woes, Devil, which released on December 29, clashed with half a dozen releases and the film lost a good chance to be noticed. What’s however most unfortunate is that the team, despite delivering a quality product, didn’t receive its due among audiences. The film tells the story of a pre-Independence era secret agent for the British.

The film, structured like a thriller with a liberal dose of romance and action, is a delectable fictional account of life in a sleepy village Rasapadu, showcasing the influence of the Azad Hind Fauj and Subhash Chandra Bose in the freedom struggle. Devil had story, screenplay and dialogues by Srikanth Vissa. Now, the thriller is gearing up for its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video. 

The leading streaming platform confirmed that Devil will be landing on January 14, coinciding with the Sankranthi festival season. The film barely lasted a couple of weeks in theatres and it’s shocking that a major release has to opt for an OTT premiere so quickly. After Devil, Kalyan Ram is working on an action entertainer with Saiee Manjrekar, Vijaya Shanti and may commence Bimbisara 2 shortly.
