Happy Ending trailer: Yash Puri headlines a comedy-centred around a curse and desire
In a society that seldom encourages discussions on physical desire (regardless of gender), films can go a long way in normalising ‘the’ talk and look at so-called taboos in a different light. Ayushman Khurana has more or less made a career out of it. Now, Telugu actor Yash Puri explores an edgy comedy – Happy Ending – revolving around a curse.
Happy Ending trailer of the film, directed by Kowshik Bheemidi, was launched today. The glimpse looks at the protagonist’s awkwardness in dealing with sexual awakening and it can be traced back to a curse. A character struggles to explain his friend’s condition metaphorically to an elderly man. You notice a few flashes of the protagonist’s struggle to discuss the real issue.
A godman says there are two types of humans – those who resist their desires and those who succumb to it. An astrologer says the protagonist is a ladies’ man, comparing him to Lord Krishna. He gradually falls in love but is worried about revealing a key secret from his life to her. To mask his condition, he’s seen shouting at a fellow viewer in a theatre.
Happy Ending takes on a social stigma with a dose of humour, the writing is witty. Apoorva Rao plays the female lead in the film also starring Ajay Ghosh, Vishnu Oi, Jhansi, Anitha Chowdhary, Harsh Roshan, Jiya Sharma, Vamsi Nekkanti, KLK Mani, Kamal Tumu and Swetha. The film is produced by Yogesh Kumar, Sanjay Reddy and Anil Pallala.
