Telugu releases aren’t many as the film goers are still under the spell of the blockbuster hit film RRR. That should also work in favour of Taapsee Pannu’s film ‘Mishan Impossible’ directed by Swaroop RSJ whose earlier film ‘Agent Sai Srinivas Atreya’ was well received. The trailer of the film left behind eager audience and recently Megastar Chiranjeevi shared his good words for the film at the pre-release event. Hindi films continue to release on OTT, perhaps that is encouraging more film makers from Telugu to venture into Pan India space.
Mishan Impossible
Loosely based on real-life event, the film stars Taapsee Pannu in a Telugu film after a long time with three child actors – Harsh Roshan, Bhanu Prakashan, and Jayateertha Molugu. The three kids set out to capture mafia don Dawood Ibrahim to earn some quick money. Ten years ago, in 2014, three school children from Patna ran away from home just to track down the underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim in the hope of winning a reward from the government.
The boys were traced by police in New Delhi and sent back home. Director Swaroop RSJ inspired by this event weaved the story for the film. The director who earlier made ‘Agent Sai Srinivas Atreya’ with actor Naveen Polishetty, who lent his voice for ‘Mishan Impossible’ as a narrator. The film is full of funny moments with the infectious charm of the young boys adding to the banter and references to popular films – the trio call themselves RRR for instance that bring an instant smile when you watch. The film released across theatres in Telugu on April 1.
Radhe Shyam
This week Prabhas’ Radhe Shyam hits OTT. The romantic film directed by Radha Krishna Kumar that has Prabhas, Pooja Hegde, Sachin Khedekar, Priyadarsi Pulikonda, Bhagyashree, Jagapathi Babu, Murali Sharma, Kunaal Roy Kapoor, Riddhi Kumar, Sasha Chettri, Sathyan in the cast will stream on Prime Video. Presented by Gopi Krishna Movies and produced by UV Creations It is a love saga of two individuals who are poles apart in their approach to life. Vikram Aditya (Prabhas) follows fate and destiny, and he falls for Prerna (Pooja Hegde) who is the believer of the power of science. Radhe Shyam is streamin on the service starting April 1, 2022 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
Valimai
Ajith’s film ‘Valimai’ continues its success streak on OTT by clocking in the biggest-ever response with 100M streaming minutes.
Written and directed by H. Vinoth, the film is produced by Boney Kapoor of Bayview Project LLP in association with Zee Studios. The film features Huma Qureshi and Karthikeya in the lead characters. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music and Nirav Shah has handled the cinematography.
Valimai follows the story of a cop, whose honesty takes a toll on his family. He is asked to solve a series of crimes committed by a gang of motorbike-borne robbers. The movie played up Ajith’s passion for motorbikes in real life, with the actor performing most of the bike stunts without a body double.
The movie is streaming now on ZEE5 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
Kaun Pravin Tambe?
The Bollywood biopic has been impressing the audience with its trailers that show Shreyas Talpade in the lead role. Shreyas portrays cricketer Pravin Tambe, who spends his life chasing his dream to become a first-class cricketer, and he does end up realising it at the age of 41 when he plays the IPL in 2013. The movie is directed by Jayprad Desai. produced by Shital Bhatia and Sudip Tewari under the banner Fox Star Studios, Friday FilmWorks and Bootroom Sports – the film is streamin on Disney + Hotstar.
Sharmaji Namkeen
Amazon Original Movie Sharmaji Namkeen is a family entertainer with an ensemble cast – Late Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal, alongside Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha, and Isha Talwar. In a first for Hindi cinema, Sharmaji Namkeen features two veteran actors Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal – play the same character. It is a heartwarming story of self-realization and discovery of a retired widower who takes up the most random of chores to keep himself busy and away from loneliness. Though after much trial and error, joy finally enters his life as he discovers a passion for cooking after joining a women’s kitty group.
The film is also special because it is legendary actor Rishi Kapoor’s last film,a nd for the first time in Indian cinema you see two actors playing the same role. The film that was left incomplete due to the unfortunate death of the actor was completed by Paresh Rawal, who shot for the left over portions.
