Geethanjali Malli Vachindi, the sequel to the hit horror comedy Geethanjali, promises laughs aplenty
Well, it looks like horror comedies are returning for good in Telugu cinema again. 2024 is witnessing a resurgence in the genre and the year began with a successful horror comedy Om Bheem Bush, starring Sree Vishnu, Priyadarshi and Rahul Ramakrishna. Now, the makers of Anjali-starrer Geethanjali too are back for the film’s sequel titled Geethanjali Malli Vachindi.
The primary cast of Geethanjali – Anjali, Srinivas Reddy, Satyam Rajesh, Satya and Shakalaka Shankar – are returning for the sequel directed by Shiva Turlapati. Kona Venkat has yet again written the story for the same and the film is all set for a release on April 11. Ahead of its theatrical release, the film’s trailer was launched today at AAA Cinemas, Hyderabad.
The trailer showcases a bunch of film aspirants narrating a horror story to Anjali and they begin to shoot it at a haunted mansion. There are few industry-specific jokes revolving around the on-set happenings, auditions, rehearsals, scene discussions, etc. While a few bump into ghosts in the house, the crew does their best to salvage the situation and distract them from supernatural activities.
Unaware that they’re amid real ghosts, many crew members make fun of them. Calling them ‘method’ actors, they ask for acting tips and even have a beer with them. However, the happy times in the mansion don’t last long and ‘shit gets real’. What are the ghosts after and how are their desires fulfilled? Geethanjali Malli Vachindi is an ideal no-brainer-entertainer this summer.
Sunil, Ali, Ravi Shankar and Rahul Madhav essay crucial roles as well. Kona Venkat, Bhanu Bhogavarapu and Nandu Savarigana have jointly worked on the script with Pravin Lakkaraju composing the music. Sujatha Siddhartha cranks the camera and Chota K Prasad is the editor. MVV Cinema and Kona Film Corporation jointly produce Geethanjali Malli Vachindi.
