Latest Movies recommended to watch in theatres include Maharaja – Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, and Kartik Aryan’s Chandu Champion. On the OTT platforms the much awaited new seasons of the popular web series like Panchayat, the upcominh Mirzapur and Bridgerton Part 2 of Season 3 on Netflix and the newly launched Paruvu on Zee5 – here’s what you can expect from them.

Maharaja Barber Turns to Be a Winner

Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film Maharaja casts his in the lead role of a simple barber, who is dedicated to his work and his daughter, Jothi; a budding sports person who looks up to her PT teacher, Mamta Mohandas. They are funnily attached to their dustbin, which they name Lakshmi until one day it gets stolen. And Maharaja (Vijay) arrives at the police station to lodge a complaint. Why does he attach so much importance to Lakshmi is what the rest of the Nithilan Swaminathan’s story is about. Maharaja is a slow thriller that grown on you as you unravel as audience why Maharaaj is hellbent of finding his missing dustbin. Anurag Kashhyap and Abhirami are an important part of the cast of the story that is interestingly a unique take on an investigative genre.

Harom Hara Luring the Audience Into the World of Crime

Hero Sudheer Babu’s latest addition to the action drama genre directed by Gnanasagar Dwaraka is an ambitious fare the scale is large, with cinematography by Aravind Viswanthan’s and music by Chaitan Bharadwaj. Subrahmanyam, takes to making guns to survive and soon enough gets involved in local politics. The story goes on to show the rise of the hero to be a powerful entity, who protects the weak despite taking to crime. The female lead in the film Devi (Malvvika Sharma) plays the role of Subrahmanyam’s lady love – a teacher by profession. Jayaprakash, Akshara Gowda, Ravi Kale, Arjun Gowda and Lakki Lakshman are part of the cast as well. With well-choreographed action sequences and good camera work, Harom Hara currently showing on large screens may appeal to the action movie lovers.

Kartik Aryan Wins Accolades as Chandu Champion

The Hindi release of this week Chandu Champion directed by Kabir Khan starring Kartik Aaryan, Vjay Raaz and Bhuvan Arora is a welcome addition to the sensibly made sports dramas that B-Town is churning out at regular intervals. The biopic of Murlikant Petkar, the first Indian to win Olympic Gold, a sporting career marred with injury when he was shot multiple times during the Indo-Pak war 1965 has just the right amount of drama to bring to screen the dramatic life of this champion. The sensibility that the director displays while portraying the character – the downfall and the eventual rise of the Olympic hero is bound to stay with you post watching the film. The film while telling the story of the sportsman does dwell upon the human being – an average Indian who comes from below poverty line of the society, lending itself to a bunch of heart touching moments that reflect upon the life that millions would relate to. Kabir’s team – Sudeep Chatterjee on camera, Nitin Baid’s editing, Suit Arora and Sudipto Sarkar’s screenplay not to mention Robert Miller’s action choreography make Chandu Champion a must watch film this season currently showing in theatres.

Panchayat Enters Season 3 

Abhishek (Jitendra Gupta) – CAT aspirant ends up in Phulera – a remote village with a job that fetches him Rs 20,000 as a Secretary at the Gram Panchayat – a small office cum residence. A typical Indian village, the residents whose lives have caught the imagination of Prime Video watchers for the first two seasons are back in the much anticipated Season 3. While Abhishek continues to grapple with cracking MBA – he tries to get used to liking the village, and tries to understand people and work with them. While in Season One you see the Pradhan Pati (Raghuvir Yadav) – husband to woman president remotely working as the head of the village – the new season will see a more involved President Manju Devi (Neena Gupta. Abhishek on the other hand resolves to keep away from the politics.

Paruvu – The Politics of Honour

The new Telugu web series on Zee 5 with Naresh Agastya and Nivetha Pethuraj in the lead with its engaging screenplay is a good addition to binge watch list. Presented by Pavan Sadineni, produced by Gold Box Entertainments and directed by Siddharth Naidu and Rajasekhar Vadlapati the web series in set in Guntur-Vijayawada of Andhra Pradesh.. The show centres around a murder and while dwelling on solving it the drama presents interpersonal relationships, caste equations and political tensions between the characters adding interesting layers to the engrossing screenplay. The drama begins when Pallavi (Nivetha) returns to Vijayawada with her husband Sudheer (Naresh Agastya) to visit her family when her uncle dies. That her marriage is against the wishes of her family is cause of tension, which is just a small part of the larger drama.
