KGF Chapter 1 released in 2018. The period action film directed by Kannada director Prashanth Neel with Yash in the lead role of an orphan turned don was a massive hit. It was made into a multilingual – a good decision considering the pan India cult status the film enjoyed. The treatment of the story, the visuals, the 70s look and feel, worked for the film, which was going to be a two-part film. KGF Chapter 2 was delayed due to pandemic, and finally it is all set to release in the month of April.
Thalapathy Vijay’s much waited film ‘Beast’ like most other films got delayed due to lockdown, covid restrictions and the crew members getting affected, with even Chennai rains playing its part. Finally, the movie that shot in Georgia and Chennai is ready to hit the theatres. The film has Pooja Hegde in the lead and is directed by Nelson. The film is expected to be an out and out Vijay film – a comedy action film with good music, stylish stunts and drama.
Joining the band of south remakes is Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film ‘Bachchan Pandey’. The supremely acclaimed hit Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda’ is being remade with Kriti Sanon and Jaqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi sharing space with Akshay. And, the film didn’t make much impression as the critics blamed it on the sloppy screenplay. The film was made in Telugu as – Gaddalakonda Ganesh with VarunTej in the lead.
Yet another remake that will see the toast of south and Bollywood cinema Pooja Hegde star opposite Salman Khan is Kabhi Edi Kabhi Diwali. Veeram remake was originally going to cast Akshay. Directed by Farhad Samji, the film is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film that was earlier slated for Eid will now release towards the end of this year. The film is set to go on the floors in April, now that the film he was shooting for Tiger 3 has almost wrapped up. In addition, Salman Khan will be seen in Chiranjeevi’s film ‘Godfather’ and has a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ as well.
Much acclaimed for his films ‘Awe’ and ‘Zombie Reddy’ director Prashanth Varma got into the business of making super hero films. In his first Indian original superhero film Hanu-Man, Teja Sajja playing the title role. His next is also in a way inspired by mythology and introduces a new her. His film ‘Adhira’ will show debut hero Kalyan Dasari as a super hero with a special skill – of generating electric energy with a specially designed weapon. The weapon he wields is like Indra’s Vajrayudham. Director SS Rajamouli, NTR and Ram Charan have launched first strike of Adhira.
90’s hit ‘Gentleman’ with Arjun and Madhoo in the lead will soon have its sequel. Producer KT Kunjumon will be coming back into film production with Gentleman 2. Nayantharaa Chakravarthy, a popular child artiste of Malayalam cinema, who also played a cameo role in Balakrishna’s ‘NTR’ biopic will be seen playing a female lead in the film. MM Keeravani will be giving music for the film that had some really popular numbers in part 1.
Vijay Sethupathi will be seen in a never before seen role. He plays the lead in the rom com ‘Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal’ where he plays the man who falls in love with two women played by Nayanthara and Samantha. Actor Ravi Teja’s action thriller ‘Ramarao On Duty’ finished the shooting part. Directed by debutant Sarath Mandava under Sudhakar Cherukuri’s SLV Cinemas LLP and RT Teamworks, the film is under post production. The film is based on a true story and has Divyasha Kaushik, who was last seen in ‘Majili’ and Rajisha Vijayan in the cast.
Adivi Sesh’s multilingual movie inspired by the true story of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan is in the post production stage. ‘Major’ is a tribute to my hero, says Adivi Sesh who has written this story based on various anecdotes he collected from Major’s friends, colleagues and family. ‘Major’ is more Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s story than what happened on 26/11 though the latter is a crucial event in his life, relates the hero, and the writer of the story. He calls it a transformational experience. Following ‘Major’ Adivi Sesh will be seen in the sequels ‘Hit 2’ and ‘Goodachari 2’.
Actor Nithiin is busy shooting for ‘Macherla Niyojakavargam’ directed by MS Raja Shekhar Reddy. The film by Sreshth Movies will also have Krithi Shetty and Catherine Tresa as female leads. As per the initial news and first look releases Nithiin will be playing a collector in this action political drama. The film will have all the commercial elements to ensure entertainment, and technically proficient crew is working on it.
The shooting for Natural Star Nani’s rom-com entertainer Ante Sundaraniki being directed by Vivek Athreya under the Mythri Movie banner was done and post-production works are currently underway. Vivek Sagar has composed tunes for the movie and the makers have announced to release the first single Panchakattu on April 6th. This comes after the much loved first look video released on the actor’s birthday. Nazriya Nazim is playing leading lady opposite Nani and Ante Sundaraniki marks her Tollywood debut. Her character name in the movie is Leela Thomas. Niketh Bommi handled the cinematography, while Raviteja Girijala is the editor for the film. Ante Sundaraniki is scheduled for its theatrical release on June 10th.
