Film and Television Promotion Council of India and Telugu Cinema Vedika came together to honour veteran actor, producer, entrepreneur and politician Murali Mohan (83) for completing 50 years in the film industry this week. The latter was presented with the Golden Jubilee Film Star Award at Prasad Labs, Hyderabad.
The event was held in the presence of the forum’s president Chaitanya Janga, secretary Vijay Varma, producer council’s president Damodar Prasad, actresses Dhani Bhose, Anisha Mukherji and several celebrities. Murali Mohan dedicated the award to Atluri Purnachander Rao, who paved the way for his fulfilling career.
“It’s a matter of prestige to felicitate someone of great repute, who’s made such a momentous contribution to Telugu cinema,” the guests remarked. The attendees were held in raptures with Mimicry Ramesh’s antics on the stage. Murali Mohan also applauded journalists Dheeraj Appaji and Kunireddy Srinivas for their work.
Having entered the film industry in 1973 with Jagame Maya, Murali Mohan went on to act in several memorable films as a lead, and supporting actor over the years – the notable ones being Chillarakottu Chittemma, Jyothi, Erra Mallelu, Seethamma Pelli, Shiva, to name a few.
In addition to a long stint in Telugu, the senior actor was also part of select Tamil and Malayalam films in the 70s and 80s and made his mark in the television and OTT space.
