Music Shop Murthy

Music Shop Murthy (Ajay Ghosh) is 52 years old music shop owner; and he loves his profession – he loves music, and is possessive about his vinyl record collection, and he along with his assistant religiously do events in their town for all special occasions. He hangs on to his music shop despite the dull business post internet, and ignores his wife’s taunts and suggestion that he sell the shop and open a cell phone shop instead.

Murthy gets on with life through his good nature, but at home his wife (Aamani) is forever in loggerheads with him and his eldest daughter does not speak to him. However his youngest daughter is always supportive of him. And, this is enough reason for him to smile through his troubles. However, he wonders what he can do in his field to earn money until someone suggests he can become a DJ.

Thus begins his dream of becoming a disc Jockey when he meets Anjana (Chandni Chowdhary) who is passionate about DJing but her parents do not support her. Anjana’s father (Balachander) goes to the extent of throwing away her console. And, she takes joy in teaching Murthy.

Music Shop Murthy is a film that deals with the concepts of pursuing your dreams despite all odds, and also ageist society which hardly looks at talent and capabilities. Murthy pursues his dream of becoming a DJ and he believes he can still make his dream come true despite being in his 50s.

The film streaming on Prime Video is directed fairly new comer of a director Siva Paladugu. He wrote a simple tale that is inspiring and engaging, and has a take away for both young and the older audience. Ajay Ghosh gets to deliver noteworthy performance worth his while in this film as a music loving dreamer. Music by Pavan is a plus for the film. The credit also goes to the director who held the reins of all the departments of film making to deliver a refreshing piece of Telugu cinema..

It is indeed a surprise package for the story deprived Telugu film space.
