Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday called for the declaration of the Hyderabad-Bengaluru stretch as a defence industrial corridor, highlighting the importance of both cities as key centres for the country’s defence sector.
Revanth Reddy urged the declaration of the Hyderabad-Bengaluru stretch as a defence industrial corridor, emphasizing the growing role both cities play in shaping India’s defence landscape. He made these remarks at the inauguration of Vigyan Vaibhav, a prominent science and technology exhibition organized by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in celebration of National Science Day.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that such a corridor would not only boost innovation but also attract substantial investments to further elevate India’s defence capabilities. He appealed to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for support, highlighting how this initiative would further solidify the region’s pivotal role in the country’s military-industrial growth.
He also took the opportunity to underscore Hyderabad’s long-standing reputation as a hub of scientific excellence and technological innovation. He noted that the proposed corridor could catalyze the growth of startups and enhance the region’s influence within India’s defence sector. Furthermore, he called for stronger cooperation to ensure India’s emergence as a global leader in defence manufacturing, referencing Telangana’s key contributions through entities like Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), and DRDO.
Revanth Reddy also highlighted the importance of inspiring youth through such exhibitions, with the goal of fostering patriotism and providing guidance for future engineers who will drive the sector’s growth. This year’s Vigyan Vaibhav, featuring over 200 stalls, presents cutting-edge defence technologies like hypersonic missiles, battle tanks, and drones, while also offering insights into career opportunities and innovations shaping India’s defence landscape.
