Samahaara, one of the most active theatre groups in Hyderabad has completed two decades and through these 20 years trained several actors, conducted theatre festivals, seminars, and workshops. January 2024: A Spotlight on Telugu Plays
To commence the year-long celebration, Samahaara Theatre Group presents a lineup of six remarkable Telugu plays for January 2024. These performances promise to showcase the depth and diversity of Telugu playwrights, providing a unique and enriching experience for theatre enthusiasts.

Founded in 2004 by Rathna Shekar and Anjali Parvati Koda, Samahaara Theatre Group has been a stalwart in promoting and preserving the rich tradition of theatre in Hyderabad. With a commitment to artistic excellence, the group has delivered compelling performances, nurturing a vibrant community of theatre lovers and fostering a robust theatre culture in the city.
Rathna Shekar, the Founder
Rathna Shekar, with an MBA and an MA in Theatre Arts (Gold Medallist) from the University of Hyderabad, is the driving force behind Samahaara. His journey includes training in Method Acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York, and subsequent work in the U.S. Since its inception in 2004, Samahaara has left an indelible mark, performing 208 plays and conducting transformative workshops and festivals.
Impactful Collaborations and Legacy
By December 2023, Samahaara had collaborated with 20 theatre directors globally, creating opportunities for practitioners and contributing significantly to the Telugu film industry. The group’s training has seen many actors transition to successful film careers, leaving a lasting legacy in the cultural landscape.
