Nani locks horns with SJ Suryah in Vivek Athreya’s upcoming action drama, whose first glimpse was out today
Nani may be addressed as a ‘natural star’ across his films, but his 15-year-long stint in cinema is a product of great consistency and not taking audiences and their tastes for granted. As he turns another year older today, there’s a customary update about his upcoming film – Saripodha Sanivaaram, for which he’s reuniting with his Ante Sundaraniki director Vivek Athreya.
The first glimpse of Saripodha Sanivaaram, which also stars Priyanka Mohan, Sai Kumar and SJ Suryah, was launched today. The voiceover by SJ Suryah introduces an unconventional protagonist, who resists his emotional outbursts for a major part of the week and channelises his anger constructively only on a Saturday. Well, he’s named Surya and is seen riding a rickshaw in an out-and-out mass avatar.
The final shot of the glimpse has SJ Suryah in the guise of a cop and wishing the protagonist on his birthday. Saripodhaa Sanivaaram promises to be a concept-driven action-drama with an unusual premise and the makers, DVV Entertainment, have done well to generate hype for the film over the recent months. The film hits screens on August 29.
The earlier collaboration between Nani and Vivek Athreya, Ante Sundaraniki, couldn’t put up a great show at the box office but has enjoyed immense popularity after its OTT premiere on Netflix. After Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, Nani is expected to work on two films with Balagam director Venu Yeldandi and OG, Saaho maker Sujeeth. Nani’s last release, Hi Nanna (Netflix), was a huge success.
