Telangana CM unveils new schemes for women’s empowerment, focusing on progress across all fields, including training for journalists.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Chief Minister of Telangana announced the introduction of several new schemes aimed at empowering women across the state. Special Commissioner of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Harish, emphasized that the state government is committed to creating the right environment for women to excel in all fields.
Dr. Harish attended a one-day training session on “Online Journalism – Empowerment of Women Journalists,” organized at the Telangana Media Academy in Nampally, Hyderabad, on Sunday. As the guest of honour, he highlighted the efforts being made to uplift women across various sectors. “The Telangana government is working to ensure that women have a suitable platform to progress both professionally and personally,” Dr. Harish stated.
He also discussed the formation of the Journalists’ Accreditation Study Committee, led by Media Academy Chairman K. Srinivas Reddy. The committee has put forward key recommendations to ensure better representation of women journalists. Dr. Harish encouraged women journalists to excel not only in journalism but also in other disciplines, citing Marie Curie, the first woman to win Nobel Prizes in both Physics and Chemistry as an example of inspiration.
The event featured several distinguished speakers. Madhu Viswanatham, Professor at ISB Data Science College, spoke on “Online Journalism Techniques – Social Media Planning.” Rakesh Dubbudu, an Artificial Intelligence expert, addressed “Source of News – Content Knowledge,” while Madhavi Ravi Kumar, Senior Assistant Professor at the University of Hyderabad, explored “Online Journalism, Navigation, Credibility, and Artificial Intelligence.” Dr. Shruti Mantri, Associate Director at ISB Data Science College, discussed “Fake News – News that Confuses the World.”
A total of 50 women journalists from Hyderabad and other districts participated in the event. The Media Academy presented books and certificates to the attendees to further enhance their professional knowledge. The program also saw the participation of Media Academy Secretary Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao and Women Journalists Coordinator Rajeshwari.
This initiative marks a significant step toward fostering a more inclusive and empowering environment for women journalists in Telangana.
